Busy busy busy

So it’s been over a month since I last updated on FFXI. >_>

A lot more has happened than I thought did. And being in college, half of my stuff (screenshots) are on my desktop at home, and the other half is here on my laptop (from where I am writing this).

Lets see… Well, on 11/12 I got my first subligar piece (THF), and traded it in for a new harness!

And, on 11/20 (8 days later), I bought a new grip (as the old one I had wasn’t good enough for me :p).

I had an image of it, but for some reason Photoshop decided to save the photo but not put anything into it (0 KB file). Strange. Anyway, the Pole Strap gives +2% Double Attack rate.

That’s it for new gear (that I can remember), the only big thing I was up to this month was leveling. I got Thief up to level 69 (party rate plummeted, so I’ve stopped for awhile), and have now taken up Scholar, which is level 20.

Scholar is a lot like RDM. At these low levels, I do a lot of main healing, and some nuking on the side. It’s not very exiting at the moment (probably because I’ve been having nothing but bad luck with leveling), but hopefully it’ll get cooler later on. Having more stratagems will be nice, I’m 5 levels away from the -50% cast time one. For those who don’t know, Stratagems are abilities that Scholar uses to enhance the next magic spell they cast. At level 10, you get one that will halve the MP cost of the next spell, at level 25 you get one that will decrease cast time by 50%, and there are two more after that.

Scholar will be a neat subjob in some ways. Using it as a subjob for BLM will be nice, as it will increase my Elemental, Dark and Enfeebling magic at the same time, decrease MP of spells, and decrease casting time as well. However, with /SCH, I will lose my ability to buff (no blink, stoneskin, etc). Using it as a subjob for RDM would also be cool, but I lose WHM specific spells (such as erase), so I’m not sure if I’ll be using SCH as a subjob for anything.

As for College, it’s gotten pretty hectic. Teachers are trying to cram what they haven’t taught us yet into class, and assigning a lot more homework than what was previously given. If only College got easier as time went on, not harder. :(

There’s now only two more weeks remaining in the semester. Next week is the last academic week, and the week after that is final exams (except for the Monday of that week, for some weird reason that has to do with the way classes were scheduled). My exam times are nice, two on Wednesday and one on Thursday. Uhoh, looking at this, it seems I have two final exams on Thursday at the same time. >_> Guess I’ll have to go speak to my advisor telling him how I can’t be at my Math and Freshman orientation at the same time. Baw!

One last thing, FoxyTunes (a plugin for Firefox that lets me control my music player while I browse) put a little button in the WYSIWYG editor (what I use to make this post), which allows me to insert what I’m listening to while I’m writing it. Pretty cool. :3

I want to start writing more in my blog, but there’s not really anything for me to write about. My college classes are going really well, even English, which has been my worst subject since forever. It has drastically cut the time in which I can play FFXI, which leaves me with really nothing to write about.

What I have been doing in FFXI when I play is merit. I figure getting a party at 75 is fast, and I really need to catch up on my merit points. Having all these level 75 jobs with no merits is lame. I decided I would first finish HP/MP, then move onto Warrior, Bard, and Red Mage merits. Possibly Summoner and Black Mage too. White Mage is retired so meriting that is pointless, and I never use Dragoon anymore since I have Warrior (and I lent out my Polearm to one of my friends).

What I have done so far is get 7/8 MP merits, and right now I’m only two merits away from my 8th upgrade. As it stands, I also have 1 HP merit, which means I’ll have to do my first downgrade to max out MP. Oh well…

As for Warrior, I finished Double Attack rate (5/5) a long time ago, and just recently I put merits into Berserk and Aggressor. Right now both have 2 upgrades (giving -20 second recast time on each), and I think after I get MP finished I’ll put another upgrade into Berserk, which would make Warrior category 1 merits 10/10. Then I’ll either move onto category 2 merits or go merit Bard and Red Mage (probably the latter).

I may also put merits into Magic Skills, still not decided how I want to work them out. Right now the only Magic Skill I have merited is Summoning Magic Skill, and it’s finished at 1/1. I only needed it to break the 300 skill mark on Summoner. My template I have on Google Docs says I’m going to upgrade Elemental Magic 8 times and Enfeebling Magic 7 times, but I’ve been thinking I may want to do Singing/Wind skill also, especially since I never use Black Mage anymore really.

It seems that I have joined a sky linkshell that only does a scheduled run on Sunday, and random runs other times. I’ll probably end up going on just Sundays and see how they are, then decide if I want to go with them on other runs (which will mean I’ll have to actually BE in the linkshell most of the time). It may be fun, although I’ll have to relearn how to get to the gods and demigods in sky, which will be a drag.

As for my limbus shell, it seems that it has disbanded. Ptl (one of the members of it) made a shell and absorbed all the members into it. I guess he did it since Yaha stopped coming to runs and open admitted to rather doing limbus with his HNM linkshell than with us. Sadly, I was not invited to the linkshell, and they do limbus at times which I cannot attend, so even if I was I wouldn’t be able to attend. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, too bad all my points were useless. I was close to getting the Nashira hands too. :(
In closing, I took a picture that looks really bad. :p lolme

Fucking college!

VTC Update

Wednesday August 29, 2007 at 03:29 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

Small update for right now, my class list has been changed around a little, and I’ve uploaded a new copy of it.

Edit: Buh? Speed to Japan’s servers is now faster than what I have at home?!

No moar

No more FFXI for me. I average anywhere from 300 to 800 kb/s to servers in Japan. That is probably worse, if not the same, than 56k. The game is now impossible to play, so I won’t be on anymore really.

Oh well, I needed a break. I’ll post the speed test of my home computer next weekend, just to compare.

VTC

Wednesday August 15, 2007 at 04:33 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

This friday, August 17th, I head off to college at Vermont Technical College (VTC). Which means, my FFXI play time will sadly be cut, probably down to just about nothing. The fall semester lasts from August 20th, 2007 to December 14th, 2007.

Hopefully the classes won’t be hard and I can get playtime in, but I can’t be sure until classes start. :p

I’ve uploaded my class list if anyone cares to see what it is. :3
