UGET: First Lieutenant

Tuesday October 30, 2007 at 03:43 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

I meant to update my blog on this yesterday, but sadly I was feeling lazy so I watched a whole bunch of Death Note. It’s a good anime, I’d suggest getting it if you can.

Anyway, the main highlight of this entry is…

Title: First Lieutenant

So happy to finally get FL. Now I just have to do a whole bunch of assaults to get Captain. I’m not even 1/4 the way ther, so it’ll probably be a long time before I hit that last assault rank.

Also, I found this funny and I want to keep it for future reference:

THF Whoring

Sunday October 28, 2007 at 12:42 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

I wish Thief didn’t have the invite rate that Dragoon did before the update (although DRG probably still has a shitty invite rate). I spend so much time looking for a party, only to get shitty ones.

At least yesterday was productive, somewhat. Between two parties I made almost two levels. The majority of the exp I made was in the first party, as the second party was saddening.

Cyberstorm attains level 64!

The setup was of the first party was:

  • Cyberstorm - 64THF/NIN
  • Soula - 63NIN/WAR
  • Popnfresh - 63BLU/NIN
  • Kihre - 63MNK/WAR
  • Wringle + Ember - 62DRG/SAM + Wyvern
  • Aoma - 63WHM/BLM

For having both a blue mage and white mage and no refresh, we did very well (averaging 8000-10,000 exp/hr).

Only 8 more levels to go until I can give Shiorichan his Scorpion harness +1 back.

New Blog Style!

Thursday October 25, 2007 at 08:19 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

I have changed my blog’s style to one I think I’ll have more fun with. Sadly, I’ve had to hide the avatars as something in the sytlesheet has decided not to display them, but I’ll figure it out and fix it sooner or later. I’ll probably do some other stuff to the layout to make it more FFXI-ish.

Also, this will be post #12 for this month, making it my most updated month for posting thus far.

Ninja edit: totally fixed avatars.

Ninja edit 2: added a new About Me page.

BCNM Time!

Thursday October 25, 2007 at 05:16 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

I don’t normally do BCNMs (hence why I have like 300+ seals), but Rilian and Chemicalsun decided to drag me along to do the BCNM50 The Final Bout.

The Final Bout is a 3 minute BCNM, level 50 cap. It’s agaisnt one Goobbue who spams TP moves. We went as PUP/WAR, PUP/COR and PLD/NIN (me). The fights went pretty smooth (we did this three times), but the drops were pretty lol.

First to trade was Chemicalsun:

Next up, was me!

And finally, Rilian:

I got the worst drops of the runs, but we’re splitting so it doesn’t really matter. It was fun, so hopefully we’ll do it again (as I need gil bad :p).

Thief!

Wednesday October 24, 2007 at 12:09 AM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

So I’ve finally gotten off my lazy ass and started leveling Thief again.

Sadly today was not a good day for exp. Neither was yesterday. In fact, I haven’t had a good party on any job in awhile…

Anyway, after a good 3-4 hours of lfp in Whitegate, I finally get a party invite. Sadly, the party turned out to be horrible. The setup: THF, BLU, BLM, NIN, DRM, RDM. Luckily, we had a refresher (which seems to be a rare thing in a lot of parties, even at 75). We decided to go do Puks (with us being level 60-63).

When we got there, Puks were VT to my 62 thf, so I didn’t care too much as long as exp stayed good. We got a few nice chains, but I ended up leaving after about an hour to go eat dinner, as the party was no where near good enough to make me stay through dinner. Sadly, the black mage did not nuke. Not once. Not even dia, or bio, or poison. I guess it was a good thing, since the RDM needed a lot of help to keep us alive (we have 5 deaths total I think, mainly the drk being a dumbass).

The parse of the fight didn’t turn out too bad. I just barely beat the BLU in damage. I’m surprised the Galka DRK did such low damage, he had a lot of good weapon skills (and a few deaths resulting from them). (Just for reference: Jblessedone was a NIN, Kariana a BLU, Kainazzo a DRK, Samurien a RDM, and Fresita a BLM).

After dinner I got a slightly better party on Colibri. The initial setup was PLD, THF, THF, SAM, WHM, DRK. I know, I know, you look at that and the first thing you say is “omg, two thfs?!”. Or maybe you’re normal and see that we have no refresh and a PLD tank…

…I saw the two THFs first…

Anyway, the WHM didn’t stay long and we were able to get a RDM to replace. After that, the party went well, until the other THF had to go. Then we got a SAM and hate control went to hell. No deaths, but a lot more MP was used and exp slowed way down. And to make it worse, I was lazy with Sanction (I still had it on from the first party), and decided it would be fine and last the duration of this party. Well it lasted most of the party, but it wore and I left 30 minutes later.

The only good thing that happened was I got my Thief up one level to 63! I forgot to screenshot, oh well, next level.

Oh, and 9 more levels and I can give Shiorichan his Scorp. Harness +1 back. :p

OH SHI-

All I have to say to you Aravil is:

Lack of Updates

Monday October 22, 2007 at 05:03 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

Yeah I haven’t been updating recently since I really don’t have anything to update.

Uhh let’s see… well, I just got done doing the Crawlers’ Nest escort quest… got a nice exp scroll from it.

School hasn’t really been taking up that much of my time really, I just haven’t been able to do much of anything in FFXI. When I’m on, I’m either helping FA with CoP missions or helping someone with other missions.

In other news, my math skills suck. Majorly. I was looking at my merit spreadsheet, and (as of now) I have 199 merits (one away from 200, I know. :p), and to finish meriting all my jobs I need another 320 still. But where my math skills fail was in the calculation of the % done. The % done was supposed to show how close I was to achieving full merits for all my jobs. However, what it showed instead was my inability to do math.

The formula for showing the % completion is Merits Gotten/Total Merits. What I had was Merits Gotten/Merits Left. Sadly my 60% done with merits was not true, I am actually only 38.21% done. :( Oh well, at least now I fixed my blunder (hopefully).

lolparty

Thursday October 11, 2007 at 11:25 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

It looks like I went from being an lolDRG to being a great DD (at least on Colibri) once that 2-handed weapon update was performed. Sadly, there is still some stuff I can’t do.

Like make a party with a PLD in it good.

Or make a party with a PLD and a BLM good.

Or make a party with a PLD and a BLM and no refresh good.

…or even close to decent…

The party I just got out of was a makeup of BLM/WHM, WHM/SMN, PLD/WAR, DRG/SAM, SAM/NIN, SAM/WAR. The two Samurai were good, as most melee jobs are. The BLM and PLD were sort of… lame. The WHM was good (only three deaths). The PLD was voke pulling, and usually got lots of links, which resulted in a few deaths (none of them mine for once!).

The parse of the party shows that the PLD (Noxes) did a total of 7.57% damage (not bad I guess for a PLD with no DD gear at all, just a Joyeuse). The BLM did a total of 8.24%, which is I guess good? I’m not sure how BLM’s are supposed to perform in non-manaburn parties at level 75.

Just a note I’d like to point out, Wuffi did a total of 3.81% damage (low, I know, but nothing I can do about that :p). But what I’m trying to get at is, Noxes only did 3.76% more damage than Wuffi, and Nymm (BLM) did 4.43% more than Wuffi. I think it’s interesting to see members of a party do <5% more than a Dragoon’s Wyvern.

The party ended up breaking after about three hours (rough estimate), and we ended up at 7.5k exp/hr. I’m never accepting another invite like that again. Ever.

…Ever…

The only good part about the party, was I was able to test Dragoon, post 2H update, against non-Colibri enemies. Not sure how I would fair against a WAR/NIN with Maneater/Joyeuse, but I was able to keep ahead of both Samurai’s durring the entire party, without having to add Wuffi’s damage to mine.

An interesting thing to note, is that my Weapon Skill damage was higher than my Melee damage. I started off using Meat Mithkabobs, and once that wore, I used Sole Sushi. My acc with meat was really high, higher than I would’ve though against Mamool Ja. My weapon skills were decent, mostly in the 700+ range, with a few 1k+ on Puks. However, I noticed a slight decline in my damage when I used sushi. My acc went up, but both my melee damage and WS damage went down. So it looks like Dragoon might be meat-only now in parties, which is much nicer, since sushi is so damn expensive.

…PLD and BLM and no refresh, what the hell was he thinking when he made that party?…

Armored Wyverns!

Thursday October 11, 2007 at 03:27 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

While browsing FFXI Dats, I happened upon this:

That’s right! Armored Dragoon Wyverns! You can download it off my blog if you want to. The Dragoon Wyvern is ROM\97\74.DAT.

Credit goes to Taruson and Stephanie for creating the different Wyvern skins, Alikona for creating the armor, and Taruson for applying the weights (whatever those are).

Moar Dragoon

Wednesday October 10, 2007 at 11:03 PM (EDT) by Cyberstorm

It seems that I’ve once again relapsed into liking Dragoon. At least now Dragoon is a good job to play. :p (At least on Colibri).

Last night I had a good merit party on Colibri, RDM SAM WAR WAR NIN DRG. Made around 12k to 14k an hour, and it lasted long enough for me to get 3 merits.

Parse of the party.

As for who is who:

  • Cyberstorm (me) - DRG/SAM
  • Gimmic - WAR/NIN
  • Taruhiko - NIN/WAR
  • Bobbie - WAR/NIN
  • Wuffi - My wyvern
  • Dannyfeng - SAM/THF
  • Octobee - RDM/WHM

I ended up doing a total of 28.72% of the damage, plus Wuffi’s measly 2.73%. Before I usually had to add Wuffi’s damage to put myself as the top DD, but after this 2H update and the addition of straps (and better gear than I had when I first got DRG to 75), I no longer need Wuffi’s damage added to mine to be at the top. :3

Looks like Samurai’s can still beat me in WS damage (SATA helped his damage), but my melee damage is much higher than his (or anyone elses), plus my Ability damage (Jumps).

As for where those merits went, 3 went into Angon (for super WS’s), and the other 2 I had in my pool went to Polearm skill.

Sadly, the Polearm skill upgrade has put me at 20/20 for my Combat Skill merits.

I don’t really want to lose my Axe merits, since I still think my WAR is really good. My sword merits are nice, for both RDM and WAR… I don’t know if I’ll level THF ever again, so I may remove the two upgrades I have to Dagger right now and add then just put a total of four upgrades into Polearm.

Lots of stuff to still think about ._.;
